Centre for Educational Services in Health and Environment, Nicaragua
An NGO working in Nicaragua promoting the rights of young people. Nohemi Molina Torres is our link with this organisation. CESESMA was founded in 1996, as a result of the success of a children's health education project in the municipality of San Ramón.

From this start, the project expanded to more rural schools, training 250 primary teachers on the themes of gender, identity, health and environment. Later the project adopted a community development approach which also involved groups of parents, teachers and community leaders.

From 2000 onward CESESMA has focused work on the training and development of young community educators (promotores and promotoras). These are children and young people who participate in training and awareness-raising programmes, then return to their communities to share knowledge and skills with other children and young people in their families, schools and in the rest of the community.

CESESMA's mission statement "To promote and defend the rights of children and young people, through processes of awareness-raising, reflection and action in partnership with rural children and young people, and other members of the community".

The CESESMA staff form a cohesive and efficient team, capable of positive intervention in public plans and policies, contributing to the development of the country with new initiatives and proposals from local to national level.
